PPG Industries, Inc.’s ( ) aerospace transparencies group has been granted Parts Manufacturer Approval for its glass-faced acrylic windshields designed for Hawker 800 series business jets. These include the Hawker 750, 800, 800XP, 800 (U-125A), 850XP, 900XP and 1000 aircraft. PPG Aerospace is the aerospace products and services business of PPG Industries. PPG Aerospace – Transparencies is the world’s biggest supplier of aircraft windshields, windows and canopies.

Mark Hood, PPG global director for general aviation transparencies, said that the glass-faced acrylic windshields provide superior protection against scratches, abrasion and chemicals compared to the previous all-acrylic design. In addition, the new-design windshields have a better, more consistent anti-ice heating system, higher visible light transmittance and improved precipitation-static drain. These fully certified PPG windshields are available for direct sale to operators.

Hood further added that the use of Herculite II chemically strengthened glass for the outboard ply with acrylic main plies helped the company to create a lightweight windshield design with improved performance. Moreover, PPG industries added Surface Seal hydrophobic coating which facilitates water shedding, thus providing pilots with better visibility during wet conditions.

PPG Industries remains actively focused on managing costs. The company expects a resumption of growth in volumes in fourth-quarter 2015 owing to continued global economic expansion, absence of customer destocking and gains from the Comex acquisition. The company is further optimistic about its previously announced restructuring efforts, synergies from its ongoing acquisitions and cash deployment.

PPG Industries saw organic sales gains across aerospace and automotive refinish businesses in the third quarter of 2015 on rising demand and persistent adoption of innovative PPG technologies by customers.

The company has displayed a Hawker 800 windshield at the National Business Aviation Association convention and exhibition at the Las Vegas Convention Center, held from Nov 17–19.

Shares of PPG Industries edged down 0.2% to close at $101.71 on Nov 17.

PPG Industries currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Residential Window Glass | by PPG

PPG rebuilds windshields for the Beechcraft King Air and Beechcraft 1900 aircraft using procedures approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. PPG duplicates original-equipment part manufacturing processes, inspection procedures and requirements in rebuilding transparencies. Materials and components in PPG-rebuilt windshields are the same as those in OEM parts to meet the same part requirements. Rebuilds are upgraded to the latest design configuration and covered by a two-year warranty, comparable to the standard warranty for a new spare.
